May Lyn’s Ascension EP is her first label release, after her 2013 Machine EP. She builds on her unique sound of heavily layered synths and tight percussion work to elicit a range of emotions from the listener. On Ascension, May Lyn places her incredible vocal talents not at the forefront, but as a blended ingredient, working her voice in and around the sonic layers she has so carefully produced. The EP shifts from happy and nostalgic to maudlin and melancholic with style and grace. Definitely keep an eye on this young artist if this release is anything to go by.
